Varsity Baseball gets the 5 seed for NCS

Both Varsity and JV Baseball wrapped up their regular season this past week. JV player Miramonte High School (Orinda) two times this week. They won both of these games, the first one by a score of 13-6 and the second by a score of 15-6. This brings JV’s season to an end with a record of 10-12.

Varsity Baseball celebrated their senior night this past Tuesday and put a team entirely made out of seniors on the field. The Falcons beat the Miramonte Matadors 2-1 in their first game. #4 Kyle Johnston started on the mound for the Falcons in this one pitching three innings allowing five hits, one earned run, and three walks while striking out four. #8 Nihar Pasupuleti finished out the game for the Falcons with a dominant four inning performance on the mound. He allowed, 0 hits, runs, and walks while striking out three. From the plate, #14 Jacob Courtney and #24 Ben Pence led the way for the Falcons. Courtney went 1-3 with an rbi double and also scored a run and Pence went 2-3 with one rbi. #19 Brogan Rattary also scored a run for the Falcons in this one.

The Falcons swept the series against Miramonte with a dominating 14-0 win on Thursday. Ace #55 Mikey Barnett took the hill for the Falcons in this game. Barnett pitched three and two thirds innings allowing just two hits while striking out seven batters. #27 Lucas Davel pitched one inning allowing just one hit while striking out the side. #21 Zach Vasell pitched two and one thirds innings allowing just one hit and one walk while tallying four strikeouts. The Falcons had an amazing day from the plate and had four players with multi-hit games: #9 Kevwe Ojo (2), #14 Jacob Courney (3), #21 Zach Vasell (2), and #47 Diego Emerling (2). Courtney went 3-4 with three rbis and two runs including a double. Emerling went 2-3 with three rbis one and one run. Also driving in runs were #8 Nihar Pasupuleti, #9 Kevwe Ojo, #11 Marcus McClenon, #12 Xavier Guillen, #28 Peter DeWit, and #33 Logan Tonsberg. Crossing the plate for the Falcons in this one were #5 Zach Norris, Ojo, McClenon, Guillen, #24 Ben Pence, DeWit, Tonsberg, and #34 Nate Leffel (2).

The regular season stat leaders finish like this: Leading the team in batting average and on-base percentage is #47 Diego Emerling with a .333 average and a .455 OBP, #00 Charlie Malton leads the team in hits (18), runs (14), and rbis (14). #21 Zach Vasell leads the team with a .33 ERA and #55 Mikey Barnett has a 1.12 ERA with 62.2 innings pitched and 87 strikeouts.

With these final two wins to end the season, the Falcons finish with a record of 16-8 while finishing second in league going 9-3. Not to be forgotten, the Falcons are on a 9 game winning streak with no sign of slowing down. The Falcons earned the #5 seed in the NCS Division 1 bracket and have a meeting with #12 seed Granada High School (Livermore) at home on Tuesday at 5 PM. Come out and support the boys as they look primed to make a run at the NCS title.
