The boy’s varsity soccer team has had a lot of challenges to begin their season. They started out the season with a scrimmage against the reigning NCS champions Berkeley High, and lost a close match 1-2. Their next two games were against two teams who both made it to the NCS semi-finals last year. They played excellent against a great Monte Vista team and tied 0-0. They then lost a rough game against SRV 0-4. After that they won 2-1 against a talented San Leandro team. Goals were scored by Tyler Emerick and Garrett Croy. They then played Cal High, but he team had lots of injuries. There were four starters on the team that were all unable to play. They boys ended up losing a tough game with a score of 0-1. In their latest game they had a dominant victory against Alhambra with a score of 2-0.

Although the CP boy’s soccer team’s record isn’t super impressive thus far, they already played their toughest matches and will have a much easier schedule coming up. Also, this team has faced a lot of adversity and has encountered a lot of injuries, so they have been missing key players in big games. This team looks to grow stronger and have a fairly good year. This team lost 17 seniors last year, so many of this year’s players are first year varsity players. They work very hard in practice, give it their all 100% of the time, and look to finish out the year strong. They have a goal to make it to at least the second round of NCS and finish in the top 3 in league.
