Sport Report December 14th

As College Park’s 2017-2018 Winter Season begins, the excitement for the upcoming season is buzzing throughout the community. The six Winter Sports are ready for their return to the chase for a league championship. This is College Park’s the second year of competing in the brand new Diablo Athletic League (DAL). This season will be packed with excitement while the Hurtado Gym waits for the championship banners to be hung up.

Craig Battle has returned as the head coach for Boys’ Basketball. The Varsity Squad won the Stonebarger Tournament up north in Brentwood after a Second Place finish in the first tournament of the year. Senior Guards Blair Newman and Dre Sunga are leading their team into a much anticipated season.

The Wrestling team’s past two weekend’s have been jam packed with excitement as the team has finished in second twice in two tournaments. The team has a combined team record of 8-2 in those two tournaments. The team competed in the Hollister Duels, going 4-1.

Megan Downing has led to her Girls’ Basketball squad to two big wins over Prospect and Pinole Valley. They beat Pinole in a tournament and have done very well in their tournaments so far. They play Albany on December 22nd.

The Boys’ Soccer team is off to a good start under second year Head Coach Jeremy Bedig. They are 2-2-1 and just shutout Alhambra High School after a great performance by goalie Devon Hutslar. They face Pittsburg, Freedom and Mt. Diablo after this week.
